I Will Be At Overland Expo East: Stop & Say HI

Come by and say Hi!

I will be at Overland Expo East in Arrington Virginia Oct 7 - 10, 2021. Look for the big orange rig, we will be parked in the Showcase/DIY vehicle area. Be sure to stop by, say Hi and check out the new rig that is currently my full time accommodation as I travel around the world.

In addition, I am an Overland Expo Instructor again this year. The following is my class schedule:

Choosing The Right Vehicle For Your Adventure

Friday, Oct 8 at 2pm & Saturday, Oct 9 at 2pm

Failure is not an option. After your personal safety, the most important decision of your adventure is choosing your transport. Carrying capacity vs. maneuverability, fuel types, old vs newer design technology, gadgets or simplicity, suspension choices, trailer vs solo truck, and sleeping arrangements are just some of the considerations. Michael will provide insight into vehicle selection as it relates to your adventure and destination choice, with some emphasis on Unimogs, Land Rovers, and Jeeps that he has put into use over the past 25 years of overland trips.

Big Rig, Small $: Custom Building a Large Overland Truck

Saturday, Oct 9 at 3pm & Sunday, Oct 10 at 10am

You can build a tiny house on wheels, too! Some of these type rigs sell for many hundreds of thousands of dollars, but DIYers can achieve the same level of comfort for much less. Michael Ladden will discuss the ins and outs of building your own overland truck. In addition, he will conduct a hands-on demo of his home built custom expedition truck & review the selection of on board equipment he chose. This class is taught through the eyes of an explorer who has backpacked, roof-top camped, back-of-the-vehicle bunked & everything in between. Together we will explore the idea of overlanding the big rig way.
